Microsoft Office 2008 12.2.7 (333 Mb) – requires 12.1.0 or higher

Microsoft Office 2004 11.6.1 (16.4 Mb) - requires 11.6.0

In addition, the Open XML File Format Converter (45 Mb) has been updated to version 1.1.7. This utility allows users of Microsoft Office for the Mac versions v.X and 2004 to convert files that were created in Office 2008 for Mac or Office 2007 for Windows. Like the others, this update addresses security issues.

Apple ships iWork ’09

Apple iWork '09Today, Apple released an upgrade to its iWork productivity suite. iWork ’09 includes enhancements to its Pages word processor and Keynote presentation package, and Numbers spreadsheet application.

Keynote ’09 adds adds Magic Move in which users set a start and endpoint for components in a slide and the Keynote provides options for moving objects between them. It also adds new new transitions and themes.

Numbers ’09 adds table categories, new formulas, more chart options, and the ability to link charts with Pages documents.

Pages ’09 adds a new full-screen view, dynamic outlining, support for MathType and EndNote formulas for scientists and academics, as well as new templates.

iWork ’09 Mac requires any Apple Macintosh computer with an Intel, PowerPC G5, or PowerPC G4 (500 MHz or faster) processor running Mac OS X Tiger 10.4.11 (or later) or Mac OS X Panther 10.5.6 (or later). It is available immediately at a list price of $79.00.

MS Office 2008 12.1.5 Released

Microsoft released the latest update patch for its Office 2008 Suite. The Office 2008 for Mac 12.1.5 Update weighs in at 104 Mb and requires Mac OS X 10.4.9 (Tiger) or any version of Leopard (10.5.x) – as well as  Microsoft Office 2008 for Mac 12.1.0 or greater.

This update “contains several improvements to enhance stability, compatibility, and performance. In addition, this update includes fixes for vulnerabilities that an attacker can use to overwrite the contents of your computer’s memory with malicious code”. Details can be found here.

MS updates Office 2007/2008 Converter

Microsoft has updated its Office 2007/2008 translation utility for older versions. Open XML File Format Converter for Mac 1.0.2 converts Word, Excel, and PowerPoint documents created with Microsoft Office 2008 for the Macintosh or Microsoft Office 2007 for the Windows so they can be opened and edited in their Microsoft Office 2004 and v.X for the Mac counterparts.
