Microsoft has released Remote Desktop Connection Client for Mac 2.0, an update to its software which enables any Macintosh (PPC or Intel) to connect and remotely operate a computer running several versions Windows operating systems, including Vista, XP, Server 2003, and Server 2008. The free download allows a Macintosh to remotely run Windows-only software and access files, networks, and devices – including the ability to copy files between a Mac and Windows-based computer, as well as print from Windows programs to any printers connected to your Mac.
Remote Desktop Connection 2.0 adds new features such as:
- Universal Binary – runs natively on PowerPC and Intel-based Macs
- Includes Remote Desktop Protocol 6.0 – improved compatibility with Windows Vista
- Connects to multiple computers simultaneously
- Dynamically resizes the screen
The program requires Mac OS X 10.4.9 or a later and must have network access and permissions to connect to a Windows-based computer running Terminal Services or Remote Desktop Services.
