Safari 5.0.4 for Windows requires Windows 7, Vista, or XP SP2; a minimum of 256 Mb of memory; and a system with at least a 500 MHz Intel Pentium processor (using Top Sites and Cover Flow features require a compatible DirectX 9.0 video card with 64MB of video RAM).

Mac OS X 10.6.8 Released

Apple has released the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update. The 1.09 Gb Snow Leopard combo patch is expected to be the final Mac OS X Snow Leopard update. Mac OS X 10.7 Lion is slated to ship some time in July.

10.6.8 addresses a number of issues, including:

  • Enhancements to the Mac App Store for a smoother transition OS X Lion.
  • Improved support for IPv6 protocols.
  • Identifies and remove known variants of the Mac Defender malware.
  • Resolves an issue that may cause Preview to unexpectedly quit.

A corresponding update was also issued for Mac OS X 10.6.8 Snow Leopard Server which includes many server-specific improvements.

Free Advice: For Mac OS updates this large, you encounter a lot less problems if you DO NOT use Apple’s Software Update feature and instead manually download and install the stand-alone combo updater.

Word as a music video production tool?

From “aspiring director” (although he seems to have a nice resume already) Dennis Liu, comes this very creative tribute music video for “Again and Again”, the 2007 alt-pop tune from The Bird and the Bee.

The video is composed entirely of video and animated still screen dumps from his Macintosh running OS X 10.5 Leopard – with the vast majority being apps and utilities that come standard with the OS. A few commercial applications, like Microsoft Word, Adobe Photoshop, Final Cut Pro (but not the way you would think) are also used.

Just goes to show, with imagination .. any tool can be your creative canvas.
