Adobe bumps up Illustrator CS5

Adobe has released a small update to Adobe Illustrator CS5. Version 15.0.1 (the actual running version number) reportedly corrects a number of issues, including:

  • Corrects several out of memory problems specific to Macs with over 4 GB of RAM, including failure of shortcut keys, rulers, and file open commands.
  • Corrects problems with the Glyph Panel.
  • Crashes occurring at launch or quit have been addressed.
  • Corrects an issue involving white lines appearing on rasterized gradient mesh objects.

Owners of Illustrator CS5 can update via this link to the Adobe Illustrator 15.0.1 Update page or via the Adobe Updater application.

Markzware Q2ID v5 Ships – Now InDesign CS5 Ready

Marksware is now shipping version 5 of its Q2ID (Quark To InDesign) plug-in. The updated version now works with both InDesign CS4 and the new CS5. It makes quick work of converting QuarkXPress documents, from version 3.3 to the current 8.x.

List price of Q2ID v5 is $199.00. Upgrades from previous versions will cost $99.00.

Adobe Creative Suite 5 Now Shipping

Adobe Creative Suite 5 began shipping this morning. Announced just a few weeks ago, this major upgrade brings a slew of new and enhanced features throughout the entire product line, with the exception of Adobe Acrobat, which remains at version 9.

Adobe updates InDesign CS4

Adobe has released InDesign CS4 6.0.1 – an update to its page composition/layout program. The 33 Mb patch addresses a number of issues, including:

  • No longer unexpectedly quits when joining two points with the pen tool.
  • No longer unexpectedly quits when Shift-Cmd-double-clicking to override a master page text frame containing text.
  • Now correctly updates the links in documents with a large number of placed InDesign files.
  • When exporting to SWF, InDesign now correctly page turns right-to-left bound documents and correctly exports “mailto:” links have “http://”  links.
  • Now correctly exports to PDF InDesign documents with very large images with a high effective resolutions.
  • No longer loses stroke settings for merged table cells when opening an INX file created in InDesign CS3 or earlier.
  • Now correctly converts InDesign CS3 documents which previously caused inaccurate reflow due to hyphenation limits.

Adobe updates InDesign CS3

On the heels of the CS4 release, Adobe has released an update patch for InDesign CS3. The 71.4 Mb InDesign CS3 5.0.4 Update is primarily a CS4 compatibility update, correcting issues with CS4 to CS3 Export to INX (Save Back) workflows.

In addition, InDesign CS3 5.0.4 offers a number of other fixes, including those concerning: File Size, Hyphenation, Performance, Anchored Objects, Character Alignment, Step and Repeat, Indexing and Table of Contents, Text and Fonts, Dictionaries, Color, Scripting, Import/Export Graphics, InDesign Interchange files (INX), XML, Library files, and Printing.

The patch works on all previous versions of Adobe InDesign CS3.
